Dreaming of Delicious

Today is my baby brother’s birthday. He is living in Orlando at the moment so I’m not able to actually celebrate with him. I did wish him a very happy day and I’m sure he’s making the best of it in the happiest place on earth. Generally I’m pretty pleased that I live in Canada-but on occasions such as this, I do have a certain hankering for what is available in the United States.

On the same note, there are a number of fabulous vegan products that have yet to make their way North of the border. Health food stores in my area acquired a few lines of coconut milk ice cream this summer but whenever I take a road trip to the U.S. I am astounded by the range of products available. There are so many things I never even imagined until I walk to aisles of Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods.

Now, I certainly don’t believe that I need processed foods or that they should become a part of my regular diet. But sometimes there are some products that are both delicious, convenient and relatively healthy.

The So Delicious line of coconut milk products certain fit that bill for me. They contain far less processed ingredients than competing products and they provide a creamy, satisfying break from soy.

The coconut yogurt has a lovely texture and the tang you would expect from a fermented food. I wasn’t a huge fan of the chocolate variety but the vanilla was perfect. I didn’t find the coconut flavour too pronounced. Instead, the coconut milk adds the creamy base and allows the vanilla flavour to shine.

The coconut milk and coconut kefir are two products I desperately wish were available in Canada. I loved them both. The kefir is a great probiotic that can help your digestive tract happy and moving everything along. The coconut milk is ideal for everything from cereal, smoothies to baking. It is equivalent to soy or rice milk rather than the coconut milk you can buy in a can.
With all this enticement I have decided to book a trip in a couple of weeks to visit my two favourite temporary residents of the U.S of A. I hope we can share some laughs over a bowl of coconut milk ice cream.

    Marika,
It is pretty fabulous. I was quite impressed. I may try to smuggle a stash back from Florida. Do you think they would let me check a cooler?

Angel, I'm glad you liked the chocolate. There are still so many flavours for me to try. Any other recommendations?
